Deep Yoga is a teaching style developed by Founders Laura Plumb & Bhava Ram. The essence of this practice arises from the most ancient and sacred texts of Yoga, including the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad-Gita and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. We seek to directly apply this wisdom to life experience on the mat and off the mat.
Deep Yoga has developed a unique approach to Asana Practice that offers a passageway into healing, self-awareness, higher consciousness and liberation. Vedic wisdom informs the imagery, mantra and meditation applied in practice. Ayurveda, the holistic sister science of Yoga, is infused into the experience for balance, harmony, purification and energetic alignment. We view practice as a metaphor for our lives, so that what we learn in Classes, Workshops, Intensives or Retreats also informs our every day activities.
In Deep Yoga classes, great emphasis is placed upon mastering the mind through Inner Mantra and audible chanting, mastering the life force through Pranayama, and mastering the body through artful, expressive Asana (Yoga poses and sequences). These three vital components are woven together to create a “Meditation in Motion,” whether in powerfully dynamic classes, or integrative healing classes.
